PhilippinesIn the Philippines, children face difficult challenges just to be able to go to school. Some children even have to swim to school with their school bags and uniforms getting wet in the process. And some of them don't even have the option to swim as they live on remote areas or far-flung islands with no nearby school, or they are forced to work to help their families survive. To make education more accessible to children, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation provides boats and build bridges so they can cross open seas and rivers. We build dormitories to give them safe shelters during school days. And we build classrooms and entire schools to facilitate learning for more children. To help parents and communities, we provide yellow boats that they can use for their livelihood, and we conduct eco-tourism programs so they can generate income for the sustenance of their children’s education. The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is responsive to the needs of the communities. A program that works for one might not work on other communities. That is why we progressively develop programs that are well-suited on every community that we want to help. If needed, we will develop a program specifically for a certain project. Our Hope Paddlers are our true heroes. They are more than just volunteers. These are the people who put all the hard work, day and night, to make our projects successful. Because of Hope Paddlers continuously watching over the communities, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is very quick to act when needed. Somehow, we are just starting out. If we continue to help one another reach more children and communities, we can leave a greater impact. Our yellow boats of hope will keep on sailing until no kid is left behind. Some of our main programs are:
We believe that children are our future. That is why we made it our mission to give all children access to quality education so they can establish their self-identity and become great stewards of our nation. But we know that it takes more than just sending kids to school to make education possible. It entails solving the problems preventing kids from going to school – even if it takes having to rehabilitate an entire community. Since 2011, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has adopted 143 public schools and over 127 communities, built 5,241 boats, 13 school buildings, 5 dormitories, and 2 bridges, among many other programs. Join Lewis on a Life-Changing Journey: Cycling the World for Hope Hi, I’m Lewis. I’m 29, from Portsmouth, UK, but my heart has never stayed in one place for long. Over the past few years, I’ve traveled to 36 countries - not just to explore, but to serve. I’ve helped rebuild schools and homes shattered by disaster, worked alongside communities forgotten by the world, and discovered my true purpose: giving back. From diving beneath the waves as a scuba dive master, sailing the oceans on luxury yachts, to living with families in remote villages, I’ve witnessed the stark contrast between privilege and hardship. What I’ve learned is simple yet profound: what people truly need is hope... and the chance for a better tomorrow. Now, I’m embarking on my greatest adventure yet: cycling around the world. This isn’t just a personal challenge. It’s a mission to raise funds and awareness for the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, an incredible organization transforming lives in the Philippines’ most isolated communities. Why the Yellow Boat of Hope? Imagine children who hike for hours over rugged, mountainous terrain and swim daily across dangerous bodies of water just to get to school. Their school books bundled in plastic bags held above their heads, they battle currents and tides (sometimes waist-deep, sometimes fully swimming) to reach classrooms that hold their dreams. The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation provides these children with boats, classrooms, scholarships, and bridges - all practical solutions that open doors to education and opportunity. Education is more than just learning; it’s a powerful tool to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. When children gain access to quality education, they unlock the potential to build better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. How You Can Make a Difference Every mile I pedal will represent the distance these children travel daily to chase their dreams. Every drop of sweat will be for the classrooms rebuilt, the boats launched, and the futures changed. This journey is bigger than me. It’s about showing that one person, one bike, and one cause can spark real change. Your support will help build more boats, fund more classrooms, and bring hope to children who need it most. If my ride can help even one more child reach school safely, every climb, every flat tire, every mile will be worth it. Will you join me?

From September to November 2025, communities across the Philippines were affected by Typhoon Opong, Tropical Storm Ramil, Typhoon Tino, Super Typhoon Uwan, the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Northern Cebu, and the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the Davao Region. Many schools lost classrooms, and several island communities lost the small boats that bring children to school every day. This Giving Tuesday, we are raising support for classroom repairs, starter classrooms, and yellow school boat builds and repairs for storm and quake affected areas. These efforts help schools reopen safely and help students from coastal and island communities return to class without long or dangerous travel. Your donation will help students go back to safe learning spaces after months of disruption. Any amount will make a real difference for a child, a family, and their community.
