🐾 About the Ace of Hearts Foundation The Ace of Hearts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue organization based in Los Angeles, California. Our mission is simple but urgent: to save dogs scheduled for euthanasia in Los Angeles County shelters on the very day they are set to be put down — and give them a second chance at life. Every single day, an estimated 475 pets are euthanized in Los Angeles County shelters alone. These are loving, loyal animals who simply ran out of time. Ace of Hearts steps in when hope is almost gone — pulling dogs moments before euthanasia, providing them immediate medical attention, and placing them into safe and nurturing foster homes until they find their forever families. We are a foster-based organization, not a shelter — and this model makes all the difference. By housing dogs in real homes rather than kennels, we’re able to evaluate each dog’s personality, provide one-on-one care, and carefully match them with the right adopters. As a result, Ace of Hearts proudly maintains a return rate of less than 1%, one of the lowest in the nation — a testament to the success of our foster-first philosophy. Our work extends beyond rescue. We’re deeply committed to education and prevention, promoting responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering. With over 25% of shelter animals being purebreds, our message is clear: every life matters, regardless of breed or background. ❤️ What We Do 🐶 Shelter Rescue & Emergency Pulls When a shelter dog’s time is up, our team acts fast — often within hours — to transport and save that dog from euthanasia. These critical rescues require significant coordination, transportation, and care resources. Your donations directly expand our ability to save more dogs by funding trained rescue staff, veterinary care, emergency transport, and lifesaving supplies. 🏡 Foster Care Program (Foster-Based Only) Ace of Hearts is exclusively foster-based — we do not operate a kennel or boarding facility. Every dog we rescue is placed in a loving foster home where they receive personalized care, structure, and socialization while they await adoption. We partner with a network of dedicated foster families who open their homes and hearts to our dogs. Ace of Hearts provides all supplies, including food, bedding, toys, crates, and medical care — ensuring every foster has what they need to give their dog the best possible experience. Increased funding allows us to maintain consistent, high-quality supplies, support more foster families, and rescue additional dogs from overcrowded shelters. 🤝 Volunteer Engagement & Adoption Events Our passionate volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. Every other Saturday, we host adoption events at Petco in Los Angeles, where volunteers help facilitate adoptions, raise donations, and spread awareness about rescue and adoption. These gatherings also serve as a community hub where fosters pick up supplies, connect with one another, and share success stories. In early January, the devastating Pacific Palisades fire tore through Los Angeles County and destroyed the Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue office, which also served as our founder’s home. Overnight, we lost everything — our equipment, medical supplies, foster supplies, and all of the essentials that kept our rescue running. Despite this loss, we have continued to operate every single day for the past nine months, because the dogs who face euthanasia in local shelters cannot wait. Our founder has personally used her own savings to keep the rescue afloat, ensuring that dogs in need still have a chance at life. Now, we urgently need your help. Donations will not only help us cover ongoing operating expenses, but also provide lifesaving medical care for our rescue dogs and much-needed supplies for our foster families.
