Join Rainforest Partnership in protecting and conserving tropical rainforests..

Overview

Rainforest Partnership protects tropical rainforests by partnering directly with the Indigenous and local communities who call them home.

Since 2007, we have worked to advance a simple but powerful idea: rainforests have the greatest chance of thriving when the people who live within and alongside them have the resources, opportunities, knowledge, and support to protect them for generations.

Our community-centered approach connects forest conservation with the realities of everyday life. In the Ecuadorian Amazon, we partner with Kichwa communities on initiatives that create sustainable livelihoods and strengthen local leadership. Our work includes women’s economic empowerment, supporting community-led enterprises and sustainable income opportunities, as well as youth education and opportunity, helping young people gain access to learning, technology, transportation, and the tools they need to build their futures while remaining connected to their communities and forests.

Science is another essential part of our work. We support biodiversity research and scientific discovery in tropical forests, including the study of reptiles and amphibians and the documentation of species in remote ecosystems. Our butterfly research and monitoring uses these sensitive indicator species to help deepen our understanding of rainforest biodiversity and environmental change.

We also believe rainforest protection requires people far beyond the forest to care about what happens there. Through initiatives such as World Rainforest Day and Films for the Forest, Rainforest Partnership has helped bring rainforest conservation to a global audience, connecting people, organizations, filmmakers, scientists, communities, and conservation advocates around the world.

Across all of this work, our philosophy remains consistent: we do not arrive with a predetermined solution. We listen, build long-term relationships, and work alongside communities to develop solutions rooted in their priorities, knowledge, and aspirations.

Rainforests are extraordinary reservoirs of biodiversity, culture, knowledge, and life—and their future affects us all. A gift to Rainforest Partnership supports an integrated model of conservation: stronger communities, opportunities for women and youth, scientific discovery, thriving biodiversity, and forests protected for the long term.

Protecting rainforests means investing in the people, knowledge, and partnerships that allow them to thrive.
