Support Kichwa women and families in the Ecuadorian Amazon as they build sustainable livelihoods through native cachama fish farming.

This 24-month project expands a successful community-based fish farming initiative by providing hands-on training, technical assistance, fingerlings, and initial feed. Participants learn every stage of fish production—from preparing and maintaining ponds to feeding, monitoring growth, keeping records, and managing future stocking cycles.

Most importantly, the project is designed to build independence rather than long-term dependence on outside funding. Project support gradually decreases as participating women and families take responsibility for the cost of future fish stocks, with the final stocking funded entirely by the participants themselves.

By investing in skills, local food production, and income-generating opportunities, this project helps women strengthen their economic security while building enterprises that can continue long after the initial funding ends.
