Challenge:
Millions of People in Uganda particularly in rural and marginalized communities lack access to safe water, adequate sanitation and proper hygiene services. This persistent gap remains a major public health concern, disproportionately affecting low-income households that face limited involvement in decision-making and poor accessibility to essential WASH services. I n such communities, systemic barriers continue to restrict equitable participation, especially among women and vulnerable groups.
Solution:
The AFCOD-Uganda proposes a targeted intervention to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in Bulange and Magada sub-counties in Namutumba District in Uganda. This intervention responds to critical gaps in WASH infrastructure and gender equality and aligns with the AFCOD-Uganda Project goal which aims to enhance gender equality through safe inclusive WASH and Livelihood in Uganda using gender-transformative and women empowerment approaches at community levels.

3. Increased Access to Safe and Clean Drinking Water, Especially for Women & Children.
