The Zero Hunger Initiative by CHHASE India is a dedicated food security program designed to provide daily nutritious meals to the most vulnerable populations living on the streets. Our primary focus is on abandoned homeless elders, destitute women, children, leprosy patients, and disabled individuals who have no other means of survival. By ensuring access to healthy food, this project aims to eradicate hunger, combat malnutrition, and reduce food wastage in urban and semi-urban areas. The Problem & Context In India, millions of homeless people live in extreme poverty, seeking shelter in public places such as highways, railway stations, bus stops, and under flyovers. Among them, senior citizens are often abandoned by their families, leaving them completely destitute. Migrant workers, disabled individuals, and young children on the streets face severe food insecurity daily. Without a stable income or support system, they suffer from chronic malnutrition, illnesses, and starvation. Project Objectives Daily Sustenance: Provide 117 hungry homeless individuals with a hot, nutritious lunch and fresh fruits every single day. Targeted Support: Focus directly on abandoned senior citizens, migrant workers, disabled persons, and leprosy patients living on the streets. Nutritional Health: Improve the health of street dwellers by offering balanced meals that fight malnutrition. Zero Waste: Work actively to minimize food wastage through systematically managed community food distribution. Implementation Plan Sourcing and Preparation: Clean, wholesome meals are prepared daily in hygienic community kitchens under strict quality control. Identification & Mapping: Our volunteer network maps out high-density homeless clusters around major transit hubs, railway stations, and highways. Daily Distribution: Every afternoon, the distribution team delivers freshly cooked lunch packs along with seasonal fruits directly to 117 identified individuals on the streets. Monitoring: The team tracks the health and well-being of regular beneficiaries to ensure the program's long-term positive impact. Expected Impact 36,500 meals distributed annually, directly reducing immediate hunger on the streets. Improved immunity, strength, and physical health among vulnerable elderly and disabled individuals. A dignified support system for abandoned citizens, ensuring they are not forgotten by society. How You Can Help No one should have to sleep on an empty stomach. Your support enables us to sustain and expand this lifeline. Donate today to help us serve the hungry homeless and bring India one step closer to zero hunger. Any support you're willing to provide would mean a lot to me, whether financially or simply by helping spread the word. When I get into the pit February 28th I'll be fighting for something bigger than myself, and I welcome you all to be part of the journey with me.
