AMAHA UGANDA FOUNDATION is a non-profit and registered organization founded by Reverend Kule Joram, in Kasese – Uganda. AMAHA UGANDA aims at restoring hope (Amaha) for the suffering children and youth in the Kasese area who have lost hope (Amaha) for their future. These children and youth do not know what their future will be like due to the situation they are undergoing. Like in many parts of the world, here in Uganda, children continue to be vulnerable, underprivileged and exploited. Factors contributing to the status quo are but not limited to socio-cultural, economic and otherwise. In Kasese district i.e. the mountain Rwenzori area and the surrounding areas, the occurrence of the ADF (Allied Democratic Force) insurgency, tribal and cultural conflicts, occurrence of natural disasters, effects of COVID-19 and absolute poverty are the factors which have exacerbated the existing bad situation. Every year, Kasese District, where the project is, experiences flooding that claim lives, cause widespread destruction of houses, crops and facilities. The total number of people who were affected in 2013band 2014 now stands at 25,445 people.  On 10th May 2024, over 1,493 households were affected by floods and landslides in the Kasese area. These families have been displaced and have become homeless now living in camps without food, clothing and other needs. Their situation is lamentable and impoverished at the moment. Recently, on the 16th June 2023, the ADF attacked a secondary school in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha in Bwera at the border of DR Congo, and more than 40 students were killed. They entered dormitories and set fire and used machetes to kill and maim students. Many families were affected and even now, others are still living in camps. Both girls and boys are suffering but as a matter of fact the girl children are worse off. Many have suffered sexual abuse in addition to other forms of abuse. The inevitable result is unwanted and unprepared for pregnancies, child marriages and sexual diseases. Many young girls and boys aren’t able to go to school and obtain an education because their parents are very poor and cannot afford to pay for them. Children do miss parental care and love; their needs (food, clothes, shoes, sanitary pads for girls and others) are not catered for. This compels young girls to exchange sex for their needs. Many of these young women and children feel trapped. They have no hope. Young girls are born thinking they have no better option in life than to sell their bodies for $1. If nothing is done about this, two or more generations are on the verge of being morally, socially, academically and economically lost. Their situation is as pathetic as it is! Therefore, Amaha Uganda is soliciting funds ($25,000) to create a pre-primary school that assists children who lack the means to help themselves. And as resources allow, we shall add more classrooms for the primary section. The school will help those who are unable to help themselves by helping them to help themselves, empowering them to transform from vulnerable people into people who recognize their own and who can contribute to the welfare of their own. Funds are being solicited for this noble cause. in addition, children will at least have two meals a day. Consider giving generously and clear the way of the children to obtain a better future. Remember, every little bit counts a lot. Thank you so profusely for considering to support!
