Don't Let a parent's prison sentence end a child's educationEvery child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and build a brighter future. Yet for more than 1,500 children in Greater Masaka Region in Uganda, that future is at risk not because of anything they have done, but because one or both of their parents are in prison. When a parent is imprisoned, the sentence often extends beyond the prison walls. Children are left without school fees, uniforms, books, food, and emotional support. Many face stigma and discrimination in their communities. Some are forced to drop out of school to work or care for younger siblings. Others simply lose hope. The Uganda National Medical Alliance for Prisoners' Support (TUNMAPS) is committed to restoring hope and protecting the rights of these vulnerable children. As part of our mandate, we conduct regular prison visits and home visits to the families of prisoners and ex-offenders throughout the Greater Masaka Region in Uganda. Through these visits, we have identified and documented the challenges facing children whose parents are incarcerated. Our assessments reveal an urgent need. Hundreds of children have never had the opportunity to attend school, while many more who are already enrolled are on the verge of dropping out because their caregivers cannot meet even the most basic educational costs. TUNMAPS has responded by partnering with schools across the Greater Masaka Region to create opportunities for these children to enroll, remain in school, and continue learning in a safe and supportive environment. However, the need is far greater than our current resources. Today, we are launching this campaign to raise funds to support 1,500 vulnerable children with the essentials they need to stay in school, including: School fees and bursaries School uniforms and shoes Exercise books, textbooks, pens, and other learning materials School bags and essential scholastic supplies Support for the most vulnerable children to remain in school throughout the academic year Education is more than attending classes. It restores dignity, builds confidence, protects children from exploitation, and gives them the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty, exclusion, and crime. When a child stays in school, an entire community benefits. Your support will help ensure that a parent's imprisonment does not become a child's life sentence. Every donation, large or small will bring another child closer to a classroom, another dream closer to reality, and another family closer to hope. Together, we can help 1,500 children remain in school, believe in themselves again, and grow into healthy, educated, and responsible citizens who will transform their communities. Please donate today and stand with TUNMAPS in giving vulnerable children the education, hope, and future they deserve. Because every child deserves a chance to learn, regardless of their parent's circumstances.
