Giving TuesdayPrevent a Crisis: Support Housing Stability This Giving Tuesday This Giving Tuesday, your generosity can provide more than just a donation; it can provide a lifeline to a neighbor in crisis. Join the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team (BR3T) as we work to ensure our resident have safe, secure, and stable places to call home. The Challenge in Our Community Housing stability is the foundation of a healthy life, yet many of our neighbors are facing the constant threat of displacement. In Hays County, nearly 60% of all renter-occupied units are "rent-burdened", meaning families are spending over 30% of their income just on housing . This impossible burden often forces people to choose between paying rent and buying food. When a crisis hits—an unexpected job loss, a medical emergency, or the aftermath of a natural disaster—these families are pushed to the brink of homelessness. The need for immediate, effective help is critical. How BR3T Makes a Difference Born from the resilience of the 2015 floods, BR3T has a decade-long track record of responding to local crises. While our disaster relief work is ongoing, we transformed our successful COVID-19 relief program into a permanent Housing Stability Services initiative. We don't just offer temporary aid; we provide integrated solutions: Rapid Rental Assistance: Immediate financial help to prevent evictions and secure housing deposits. Embedded Financial Counseling: Case managers provide essential budgeting and savings education to foster long-term self-sufficiency. Holistic Support: We coordinate with local partners to ensure families have access to essential food and utilities, addressing interconnected needs. Your Impact This Giving Tuesday Your donation directly supports this vital work. This year, our goal is to fund comprehensive support for 20 local households on their journey to stability. Here is what your gift can achieve: $50: Covers a household's housing application fees. $100: Provides a household with a complete series of financial counseling sessions, equipping them with tools for long-term self-sufficiency. $250: Contributes significantly to a client's security deposit, securing their new home. $500: Prevents an eviction entirely for a family in crisis. Your support this Giving Tuesday ensures that a crisis doesn't turn into a catastrophe. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community where everyone has the safety and dignity of a stable home.
